Newport Comic Con

THOUSANDS of people descended on Newport Leisure Centre for the return of the popular GeekedFest festival for the weekend, bringing celebrities and ‘cosplayers’ from across the UK to the city.

The portraits were taken whilst on assignment for the South Wales Argus. The organisers allowed me to set up a small studio on the balcony area where I was able to use a large black back drop as a plain background and the cos players were lit with a single Godox ringflash.

Many thanks to all who allowed me time to photograph them.

Rhodri Morgan (1939-2017)

I travelled to the west Wales coast near Cardigan to photograph Rhodri Morgan for a feature. It was where he had his holiday caravan. We shared a mackerel supper outside on the decking as the sun was setting, he was a charming and hospitable host and was always amenable to my photographic suggestions. RIP
